For more than 65 years, PROCMURA has worked alongside churches, religious leaders, women, youth, and communities across Africa to promote constructive Christian–Muslim relations, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable development. As the organisation continues to serve communities across 24 African countries, strengthening the sustainability of that mission remains a strategic priority.
On Wednesday, 10 June 2026, PROCMURA reached a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of the Berkeley Residency Apartments on its Rhapta Road property in Westlands, Nairobi.
The development forms part of PROCMURA's long-term financial sustainability strategy and is expected to provide a sustainable source of income to support the organisation's programmes and operations across the continent. The project reflects a deliberate effort to strengthen institutional resilience while ensuring that PROCMURA remains well-positioned to continue responding to the evolving needs of churches and communities in Africa.
The ceremony brought together religious leaders, members of the Executive Committee, trustees, partners, consultants, project developers, friends of PROCMURA, and staff to witness the commencement of a project that has been years in the making. The project was consecrated by Bishop Stephen Kalunyu, who described the groundbreaking as a moment of faith, stewardship, and responsible planning for the future.
"This project is a reminder that faith and prudent stewardship must go hand in hand. As we dedicate this development to God, we pray that it will not only serve its intended purpose but also strengthen PROCMURA's ability to continue being a blessing to communities across Africa for many years to come," said Bishop Kalunyu.
The groundbreaking follows the successful completion of an extensive planning, legal, and regulatory process, including final approval by Kenya's National Construction Authority (NCA), paving the way for construction to begin.
Representing the Board of Trustees, Rev. Dr. Luka Ariko said the project reflects PROCMURA's commitment to building a strong institutional foundation capable of supporting its mission in the decades ahead.

"For many years, PROCMURA has invested in transforming lives and strengthening relationships across Africa. The responsibility of leadership is not only to serve the present generation but also to prepare for the future. This project is an important investment in ensuring that the organisation remains strong, sustainable, and able to continue its work for generations to come," he said.
Speaking during the ceremony, PROCMURA Team Leader Ms. Joy Wandabwa expressed gratitude to the many individuals and institutions whose commitment, expertise, and support helped move the project from vision to reality. "This milestone is the result of years of prayer, planning, consultation, and collective effort. We are grateful to our partners, leadership structures, consultants, legal team, project developers, and staff who believed in this vision and worked tirelessly to bring us to this point. As construction begins, we look forward with hope and confidence to what this project will mean for the future of PROCMURA's work across Africa," she said.
Since its establishment in 1959, PROCMURA has grown into a leading Pan-African organisation dedicated to fostering constructive Christian–Muslim relations, advancing peacebuilding initiatives, promoting Freedom of Religion or Belief, empowering women and youth, and supporting community development. Its work continues to create platforms for dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding across the continent.
The PROCMURA Berkeley Residency Apartments represent an investment in the future of PROCMURA's mission across Africa. As construction begins, the development stands as a reflection of the organisation's commitment to ensuring that future generations continue to benefit from programmes that promote peace, human dignity, good neighbourliness, and social transformation across Africa.
The groundbreaking ceremony marked not only the start of construction, but also the beginning of a new chapter in PROCMURA's journey towards greater sustainability and continued service to communities across the continent, as PROCMURA works towards building cohesive and inclusive communities where peace, peaceful coexistence and sustainable development prevail.
