Annual Report 2020
The report covers PROCMURA’s administrative and programme activities from January to December 2020. Although travel restrictions and public-health measures disrupted many planned activities, PROCMURA and its constituencies continued supporting churches, religious leaders, women, girls, youth and vulnerable communities.
During a year of uncertainty, PROCMURA adapted its work to sustain hope, strengthen peaceful coexistence and respond to the practical needs of communities across religious divides.

Selected 2020 Highlights
Girls Supported in Kenya
Two hundred girls in Isiolo County received health packs during activities marking the International Day of the Girl Child.
Girls Supported in Rwanda
One hundred girls received hygiene kits alongside learning on gender-based violence prevention, sexuality and menstrual health.
Youth Religious-Tolerance Camp
Eighty Christian and Muslim youth participated in PROCMURA’s first youth camp on religious tolerance in Kenya.
Programme Milestones
- Peacebuilding activities were implemented in Nigeria, South Sudan, Liberia and Ghana.
- The first regional Training of Trainers workshop on freedom of religion or belief brought together participants from six African countries.
- COVID-19 humanitarian assistance reached vulnerable communities through local action in Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Togo and Kenya.
- PROCMURA established a printing press and documentation centre to support publications, learning resources and youth skills development.
- Training manuals were developed for Christian-Muslim relations, FoRB, peacebuilding, women and peace, and youth religious tolerance.
- Girl-child mentorship and women’s peacebuilding activities were undertaken in Kenya, Rwanda and Sierra Leone.
Lessons from an Exceptional Year
The report records how PROCMURA adapted to restrictions by strengthening local implementation, developing training resources and supporting practical humanitarian action. It also identifies diapraxis—people of different faiths working together on shared concerns—as an effective pathway for building trust and mutual religious tolerance.
