Annual Report 2017
The report documents PROCMURA’s Central Office developments, programme activities, partnerships and regional engagement during 2017. It records leadership changes while showing how staff, Area Committees, church leaders and partners sustained the organisation’s work at continental and grassroots levels.
Despite a demanding period of transition, PROCMURA continued equipping churches, women, youth and religious leaders to respond constructively to radicalisation, conflict and the challenges affecting Christian-Muslim relations.

Selected 2017 Highlights
Christian-Muslim Relations Graduates
Sixty-six students received diplomas and certificates from the Kaduna Centre for the Study of Christian-Muslim Relations.
Sunday-School Teachers Trained
More than 100 teachers from the Friends Church in Nairobi received education on countering violent radicalisation and extremism.
Religious Leaders for Peace
Forty Muslim, Catholic and Protestant religious leaders participated in conflict-prevention and peacebuilding engagement in the Central African Republic.
Programme Milestones
- A regional office for Francophone West Africa was strengthened in Lomé, Togo.
- Church leaders in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Tanzania and Togo engaged on religious radicalisation and violent extremism.
- Religious leaders from East and Southern Africa developed country action plans for countering radicalisation and violent extremism.
- Christian women from East Africa examined women’s participation in peacebuilding and community resilience.
- Christian youth leadership activities were implemented in Liberia and Madagascar.
- A Christian-Muslim youth exchange in Rwanda promoted dialogue and joint action around migration and displacement.
- PROCMURA supported interreligious conflict-prevention work in the Central African Republic.
- The Conference and Restaurant Centre contributed to institutional financial sustainability.
A Year of Transition and Continuity
The report places significant emphasis on leadership transition and institutional continuity. It also renews PROCMURA’s commitment to stronger Area Committees and more visible grassroots engagement, recognising that its continental network is most effective when local structures have the capacity to respond to their own contexts.
