Annual Report 2018
The report covers PROCMURA’s administrative progress, core programmes, designated interventions, partnerships and lessons from January to December 2018. It records efforts to strengthen the organisation’s capacity while expanding engagement with churches, women, youth, religious leaders and communities.
Under the guiding message “Peace is Possible,” PROCMURA continued building local capacity for dialogue, peaceful coexistence and joint action on the challenges facing Christian and Muslim communities.

Selected 2018 Highlights
Women Leaders in Tanzania
Twenty-two Christian women leaders from different denominations examined women’s roles in preventing radicalisation and building peace.
Women and Youth in Benin
Twenty-five women and youth participants developed approaches for peer education and community peace networks in Cotonou.
University Student Engagement
More than 100 university students and representatives participated in establishing a PROCMURA university chapter in Nairobi.
Programme Milestones
- Area Committees were established or reinvigorated in Nigeria East, Tanzania, Guinea and South Sudan.
- PROCMURA strengthened understanding of freedom of religion or belief through institutional capacity building.
- Church and community leaders in Ghana and Cameroon addressed emerging Christian-Muslim relations and violent extremism.
- Christian youth leaders in Tanzania and Liberia received capacity support on radicalisation, peace and constructive engagement.
- Community interventions in Kamukunji and Isiolo brought religious leaders, government, civil society, women and youth into local prevention strategies.
- Christian and Muslim communities marked Ramadan, Eid and the International Day of Peace through shared engagement.
- Religious leaders, women and youth in Benin developed commitments to counter extremist messaging and support peace networks.
- PROCMURA contributed to regional and global forums on mission, peacebuilding and interreligious cooperation.
Strengthening Grassroots Engagement
A central lesson of the report is that PROCMURA’s continental mission depends on active and capable local structures. The organisation therefore emphasised stronger Area Committees, trained personnel, teaching resources, research and documentation, collaboration with churches, and practical cooperation—or diapraxis—between Christian and Muslim communities.
