MARKING THE INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF PEACE 2020
The International Day of Peace which was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly, and observed around the world each year on 21st September is here again. We in PROCMURA welcome the day and the period and also express our delight of the theme for the 2020 celebrations which is: “SHAPING PEACE TOGETHER”. For PROCMURA, like everyone else, this year’s World’s Peace Week will be marked with an added focus as the COVID - 19 pandemic has created so much pain and uncertainty for humanity, that peace in its wholeness (Shalom in Judaism and Christianity and Salaam in Islam) is greatly disturbed.

The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA), a pan African Christian organization established in 1959 to promote Christian constructive engagement with Muslims for peace in the wider society, and peaceful co-existence between adherents of the two religions, towards the holistic development of the human family and the environment.
There is no gain in repeating the obvious that the CoronaVirus (COVID-19) pandemic has put the world on its knees. Nations and their people are anxious and afraid of the worst as infections and loss of lives are on the rise daily in several countries. As this reality takes its toll, there is loss of livelihood, with the poor and vulnerable suffering depression and groaning on how to find something to eat and feed their families.
